Our Story

We didn't build Omkaarya from a spreadsheet. We lived it.

Omkaarya was built by a Brahmin who grew up in temples, actively serves as a priest, and spent a career in product engineering. Someone who stands at the altar and understands the system — and built the software that should have always existed.

Connecting Temples and Devotees Digitally

The name ·

OM

Pranava Mandhiram

The universal primordial sound. In temple tradition, Om represents the divine dwelling itself — the sacred space where the deity resides and devotion is offered. Every prayer, every mantra, every ritual begins with Om.

KAARYA

Kaariyaalayam — the administrative office of the sacred

Kaariyaalayam denotes the administrative office. Kaariya-tharisi is the secretary. Kaareiyakaran is the one who gets things done. Kaariyakartha is the executor of duties. The entire word family means purposeful, official, responsible work.

Omkaarya = The Administrative Office of the Sacred Temple

The divine sound meets disciplined purpose — the Pranava Mandhiram and the Kaariyaalayam, united.

“Omkaarya is the digital Kaariyaalayam — the administrative office of every Pranava Mandhiram in the world. We exist so that temple trustees can spend less time on administration, and more time on devotion.”

Sashti Viradham — the most sacred day of Lord Murugan

Omkaarya launches on Sashti Viradham — the holy day observed in devotion to Lord Murugan across Tamil temples worldwide. A platform born from devotion, launched on a day of devotion.

“Every year, the same devotees would call the temple, give their name and natchathiram, book their Gowri Kappu or Kandhasasti viradham — and it was all written in a book. A book that could be lost, torn, or simply forgotten. I knew there had to be a better way.”

— Founder, Omkaarya

The problem we witnessed

Sacred institutions running on paper

These are not hypothetical gaps. These are the exact workflows our founder observed in real temples — in Sri Lanka and across the global Tamil diaspora. Every item below is a feature Omkaarya was built to replace.

  • Devotees book sevas by phone call — priest or trustee writes it in a book
  • Gowri Kappu: some devotees get nool, some get nool + pazhagaram — tracked in separate registers
  • Kandhasasti virathakarangas receive pazhum + panchamrtham prasadam box — listed manually
  • Annual rituals (Pradhosam, Ekadasi, Karthigai) — same devotees, same natchathiram, re-recorded every year
  • Hundi cash counted manually, entered in paper ledgers — no digital audit trail
  • Donations collected, but devotees never told how or where the money was used
  • Younger generations drifting away — no digital connection keeping them close to the temple

The transparency gap — why it matters

Devotees give generously. They deserve to know it mattered.

When a devotee donates to a festival, a renovation, or the temple's daily operations — they trust the institution completely. But that trust is rarely acknowledged with a record, an update, or even a receipt. Over time, that silence erodes the bond between the temple and its community.

This silence, repeated year after year, is one reason younger generations stop coming. Omkaarya's donation transparency feed is our answer: every devotee can see how their contribution was used, in plain language, delivered to their WhatsApp or email.

What Omkaarya changes

  • Devotees book sevas online — no phone calls needed
  • Annual rituals remembered automatically with natchathiram
  • Prasadam variants (nool / nool+pazhagaram / box) configured per ritual
  • Donation receipts sent instantly via WhatsApp
  • Trustees see exactly where every rupee went
  • Younger devotees stay connected through the temple's digital presence
How we got here

The road from Araneripaadasalai to Omkaarya

Around 1993

Araneripaadasalai

Long before Omkaarya, our founder grew up attending an Araneripaadasalai — a Hindu cultural school running within a temple. From around age five, students learned Tamil, Samayam, Thevaranga Devaram, and Puranam. There were exams. There were prizes. There was a living connection between the community and the temple.

Late 1990s — Early 2000s

When the school stopped, so did the connection

Over time, the cultural school faded. Parents grew busy. The chants, the calendar, the rituals — the knowledge that once passed naturally from one generation to the next — quietly stopped flowing. Younger generations drifted away from the kovil not by choice, but because no one kept the thread alive.

2011 — Present

Priest by practice. Product engineer by profession.

Since 2011, our founder has been actively serving in Tamil temples — conducting poojas, managing sevas, and observing temple administration from the inside. Not as an observer or consultant, but as someone who stands at the altar. At the same time, a career in product engineering began — learning how to translate complex human workflows into intuitive digital systems. The combination proved rare: someone who genuinely lives the temple world and is professionally equipped to rebuild it. Every pain point in Omkaarya was felt before it was coded.

The Question

Where does my donation go?

Devotees gave generously — to festivals, to renovation, to the temple's daily operations. But they received nothing in return: no receipt, no update, no acknowledgement. That silent gap — between giving and knowing — quietly eroded trust across generations.

2013 — The Idea

A prototype, a document, a dream

The first idea for Omkaarya took shape around 2013 — not as a plan, but as a personal conviction. Every free moment outside of work went into R&D: studying how temples operate, what software existed, where it failed. Full documentation was written. Concepts were refined. All of this while holding a full-time job — mornings, nights, weekends, festival holidays.

2018 — 2023 · Design

UX process, design system, product blueprint

Between work hours and stolen weekends, the UX process began in earnest. Every screen, every workflow, every user journey — designed around the actual workflows of temple counters, priests, trustees, and devotees. Design completed. Architecture finalised. Still entirely in free time.

May 2026 — Full Focus

Left the job. All in.

In May 2026, the decision was made: leave full-time employment and commit completely to Omkaarya. Years of free-time research, design, and engineering had built the foundation. Now it was time to finish what the temple world actually needed.

18 Aug 2026 — Launch

Omkaarya goes live —

What started as a quiet personal conviction in 2013 is now production-ready. Omkaarya officially launches on 18th August 2026 — Sashti Viradham, a day sacred to Lord Murugan — not as a generic ERP retrofitted for temples, but as a platform conceived entirely around how temples actually work. The Araneripaadasalai dream lives inside this mission: to keep temples connected to their communities, digitally and culturally.

What we stand for

The values behind every feature

Built from lived experience

Our founder is a Brahmin who grew up in and around temples. Every feature in Omkaarya comes from a real gap observed first-hand — not from market research.

Devotion meets accountability

A temple is a sacred institution. Its finances, devotee records, and ornament custody deserve the same rigour as any professional trust — with digital audit trails to prove it.

Cultural preservation is our mission

Omkaarya is not just software. It is infrastructure for Hindu temples to stay connected with their communities, their traditions, and the next generation of devotees.

Temples as community hubs

When devotees know their donations are transparent and their sevas are remembered year after year, they come back. Omkaarya makes that relationship possible at scale.

Diaspora-first design

Designed for temples in Switzerland, UK, Germany, Canada, Sri Lanka, Singapore — where the Tamil and Hindu diaspora maintains deep tradition despite being far from home.

Temple admin built, not assumed

Every workflow was validated with actual temple trustees, cashiers, and priests. If it does not match how a real temple counter works, we rebuild it until it does.

Our long-term mission

Temples that are organised stay connected to their community. That connection keeps culture alive.

Every temple that modernises with Omkaarya creates a stronger bond with its devotees — young and old. When a devotee receives a WhatsApp receipt after their donation, or books their annual Gowri Kappu online without a phone call, they feel seen. They come back. And they bring their children.

The Araneripaadasalai that once ran inside our founder's temple — teaching Devaram, Puranam, Tamil tradition — lives in the vision of what Omkaarya can become: a platform that not only manages temple operations, but preserves the cultural thread between temples and the communities they serve.
